Binghamton, NY – U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro (NY-19) today announced the winners of his New York 19 Writing Competition, where young students were tasked with answering the prompt, 'If you were President for a day, what would you do?'

The winners of the competition are Bailey Carlucci, a third grader at Sullivan West Central School, Thalia Brennan, a fourth grader at Chenango Forks Elementary School, and August Eggena, a fifth grader at Taconic Hill Central School. Each student presented unique and thoughtful ideas in their essays.

Bailey’s essay focused on important issues such as ending animal abuse, creating safe playgrounds for amputees, and promoting unity. Thailia's writing emphasized hosting fun events to bring the local community together, organizing park clean-ups, and treating seniors in nursing homes to ice cream. August’s essay highlighted the importance of protecting endangered species, building food pantries, and providing service dogs for those in need.

Expressing his delight in the creativity shown by the young participants, Rep. Molinaro said, "I truly enjoyed reading the creative essays from young students on what they would do as President of the United States. Thank you to all the kids who participated in brainstorming sessions and my competition. There were many bright ideas that would bring our local communities closer together. Congratulations to my writing contest winners Bailey, Thalia, and August!"
