U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro (R-NY-19) has cosponsored the Access to Family Building Act in response to the recent ruling by the Alabama Supreme Court. The bill, introduced by U.S. Rep. Susan Wild (D-PA-7), aims to protect access to in-vitro fertilization (IVF), a crucial method for millions of Americans to have children. Companion legislation in the Senate was introduced by U.S. Senators Patty Murray (D-WA) and Tammy Duckworth (D-IL).

In a statement, Rep. Molinaro expressed his support for the bill, saying, "I was troubled by and said at the time that I opposed Alabama’s ruling to limit IVF. I’m a parent who has personal experience with IVF and support all women and families who choose IVF to bring life into this world. Protecting it is just commonsense."

The Access to Family Building Act establishes a statutory right to access IVF, ensuring that no state can limit these services and that no hopeful parent or their doctors face punishment for trying to start or grow their family. Rep. Molinaro's advocacy for this bill aligns with his history of fighting against restrictive policies, including leading successful efforts to prevent restrictions on mifepristone and birth control in Congress.
